Grundy Center School Board Names Dr. Ann Lebo Next District Superintendent

GRUNDY CENTER, IA — The Grundy Center Community School District Board of Education has
named Dr. Ann Lebo as the next district superintendent.
Dr. Lebo is the current community services bureau chief for the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, where her focus has been on the strategic realignment of early intervention and support programs within the Division of Family Well-Being and Protection.
Before that, she was director of the Iowa Department of Education, the highest ranking state official appointed by the governor. She has also served as executive director of the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners and chief talent officer with the Council of Chief State School Officers.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Lebo was a secondary principal, assistant secondary principal, and secondary dean in Grundy Center CSD. Her first role in education was serving as a middle school teacher at Gilbert High School. “Grundy Center is a special place. I’m so excited to represent this incredible community, and my hometown, as the next superintendent.” said Dr. Lebo.
Dr. Lebo holds an Ed.D. in educational administration from University of South Dakota and a master’s degree in English language and literature from Northern Iowa University. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in English education from UNI, as well as a bachelor’s degree in speech communication from Iowa State University.
“Ann’s extensive experience across various levels of education sets her apart in a truly remarkable way,” said Board Vice President Mary Breyfogle. “Her commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where every employee feels valued and heard, coupled with her vision to ensure that all students are supported and engaged, we believe will lead our school to new heights.”
Board members worked with Grundmeyer Leader Services to conduct the search. Dr. Lebo will
officially begin leading the Grundy Center Community School District as superintendent effective July 1, 2025.
